MWC- Mobile World Congress, Barcelona
The Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona, is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry. This year more than 1,800 companies showcased what’s next for mobile and provided an opportunity for mobile networking, trade and new business connections. 85,000 people from over 200 countries attended.
Samsung won two prizes, one for the Galaxy S5 smartphone and the other for their Gear Fit. The Samsung Gear Fit is a fitness-focused wearable that monitors heart rate and can be synced to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The Galaxy S5 smartphone is said to offer the “world’s fastest autofocus speed” and boasts a new selective focus feature, 16- megapixel camera and 4K UHD video recording. It also comes with a much-improved screen, water resistant exterior, fingerprint scanner and heart-rate monitor.
DSE- Digital Signage Expo, Las Vegas
Christie Partners took home top 2014 DSE Apex and Content Awards. The Apex awards are given to those who show the greatest progress and use of technology in the worldwide DOOH industry. Whereas the Content awards include original and convincing content produced for digital signage in the DOOH networks.
Scotiabank, together with Cineplex Digital Solutions and RP Visual Solutions, earned a Gold Apex Award in the Professional and Personal Services category for their three-dimentional installation consiting of 80 Christie MicroTiles. Cineplex Digital Solutions is a Canadian interactive media and digital signage company dedicated to providing products and services necessary for the management of multimedia organisations in various locations. RP Visual Solutions design and manufacture visual displays.
A Gold Content Award was given to Materials and Methods for their SECU Interactive Art Video Wall, which used 18 Christie LCD flat panels exhibiting animations and abstract art content.
